The Right Use of Power
This two-hour live and very interactive webinar features Dr. Cedar Barstow who will explore with us how to best use our personal, status and professional power with strength and heart. Together we will look at new ways to understand power and own the power we have with the aim to remain connected, accountable, sensitive and skillful in our work. With a new awareness of the right use of power, we can help prevent and repair harm, resolve conflict and promote wellbeing.
Power has gifts and responsibilities. as well as perils and traps. Using power well requires – in addition to good intentions – skill, information, and sensitivity. Power dynamics can be understood and the traps and perils mitigated. We will explore this by delving into four specific gifts of power and their accompanying perils.
Although this is an online webinar, the program will engage you in experiential learning. This topic is rich, deep and timely, and we will all find it immediately useful! About Dr. Cedar Barstow, M.Ed., C.H.T., D.P.I.
My primary passion and focus is spreading several practical and relationship-centered ideas. Power can and must be used with compassion. Power, as simply the ability to have an effect or to have influence, can be used to heal past harm, resolve conflicts, repair relationships, and evolve situations. Ethics, in its broadest and richest context, is the right use of power and influence. In addition to good intentions, there are theories and skills involved in learning more and more about using the power that you already have wisely and well. As Founder and Director of the Right Use of Power Institute, I have been designing, developing, and teaching this approach since 1994. More info…
